Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao who is running as a Senator this upcoming election, gave away 150 houses to homeless families of Bales Village just a few days before celebrating his birthday this year.
The grateful recipients of the housing units were urged by Manny Pacquiao to thank God and not him as he is just being used by the Almighty One to help the needy.
“Give thanks to God for what you have received today. It’s a gift from Him. He’s just using me to help you. Take good care of this property and don’t sell it,” Pacquiao told the recipients.
Ricardo Marcellana, the contractor of the housing project for the homeless called “Pacquiao Village”,that the cost of the housing project excluding the cost of the land was P28.5 million personally funded by congressman.
Marcellana said the 150 houses given away comprised the first phase of the project.the second phase which will start this week and expected to be completed in February 2016.
Pacquiao said that more homeless families will receive the same blessings as he plans to build a total of 600 units in his four hectare property.
“There are still lots of spaces here where we can build more houses. I’m targeting a total of 600 housing units to accommodate more homeless residents here,” the People’s Champ said.
Joseph Abatayo one of the beneficiaries expressed his gratitude for Pacquiao’s concern and generosity towards the poor people of the province.
“He is the only politician I knew who has a big heart for poor people like us. Imagine, he’s spending his own hard-earned money for high-impact project like this,” Abatayo said.
