Paula Alvarez spokesperson for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said that the public should look beyond the character of Mayor Duterte and understand his way with women.
“What we want is for people to look beyond these swearing and profanity that they are throwing at him. What we should look into is his track record,” Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted her as saying.
She also urged the public not to take literally Duterte’s statements of killing criminals.
“Some of his statements are just hyperbole. Sometimes he exaggerates to drive home a point,” she said.
She also compared the slow response led by Liberal party standard-bearer and former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas to Duterte whose relief goods were plastered not with his face but only with a note “From Davao City”.
“What we want is efficient government. Let’s look into that—quick action and solution” referring to the slogan of Duterte-Cayetano tandem.
Alvarez also said that Duterte should not be judged for being good at charming women, she also compared Mayor Duterte to action star Robin Padilla who is known for his bad-boy attitude.
“The women are the ones who throw themselves at him, maybe because he’s now seen as a rock star,” she said during the “Pandesal Forum” at Kamuning Bakery Cafe.
He also pointed that Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was “prowomen” and citing that Davao City was the first to have a women’s code that protected them from discrimination.
“He’s very respectable toward women,” she said.
