The remains of the late Former President Elpidio Quirino will be transferred to the Libingan ng mga Bayani tomorrow Febuary 29 at noon.
Currently, the remains of late president Quirino is at the Manila South Cemetery in Makati City.
The Philippine Army,Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy personnel will give a full military honors during the burial ceremony.
Late President Elpidio Quirino will be the third Philippine President to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, PCDSPO Undersecretary Manuel Quezon III said.
“Magkakaroon ng seremonya na bihira lang maganap,” Quezon said.
“The President, in behalf of the nation, will be leading the ceremony at the Libingan ng mga Bayani,” Quezon said.
The Ilocos Sur officials and residents were pleased upon discovering that the remains of Quirino will be transfered to the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Ilocos Sur Vice Governor Savellano said “The event is a thing we Ilocanos are proud of as this is a fitting tribute to the late President Quirino to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani because of his several achievements for the country that are now being enjoyed by our countrymen”.
“As we all know, President Quirino’s wife and his three children were slain by the Japanese soldiers during the World War II, but the late President set aside his anger and pardoned the detained Japanese soldiers after the war as his mode of healing the wounds of the ravage of the war,” he added.
