Presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s camp welcomed the Supreme Court decision ordering the Comelec to issue printed receipts to voters.
Duterte spokesperson,Peter Tiu Laviña said the decision of the Supreme Court to issue printed receipts “upholds the law on automated elections.”
“This would allay fears of the people that their votes will not be counted properly,” he said.
He added that if this is implemented properly it would “strengthen the credibility of the electoral process”.
“We urge the Commission on Election to capture the spirit behind the SC ruling and uphold and protect the sanctity of the vote of the people,” Lavina said.
“We also call on Comelec to ensure that the electoral process is peaceful and orderly,” Laviña added.
