As a woman and as a mother, I put my vote, my son’s future and all my hopes for our country on Mayor Duterte as the leader of our country. We fought hard for equal rights, to have access in almost everything we were not allowed to do as dictated by the society we grew up in. We fought hard to believe that we have absolute freedom to be whoever we want to be, and to be courageous in standing for what we believe in.

At dahil sa paniniwalang yan we did not and still do not condone Mayor’s controversial remarks. Instead, we ourselves held him accountable to acknowledge and apologize for his insensitivity.

At bilang isa sa mga libo libong kababaihan na may pinaglalaban, kahit na maraming tao ang paningin sakanya ay immoral, naniniwala ako that he will contribute to the welfare and advocacy of women’s rights, the way he did in Davao.

We will not discriminate against others, because we ourselves were once victims of discrimination. We condemn acts that are offensive, BUT
we support those which we believe contribute to the development of our country.
