Presidential front-runner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte criticized some media for being biased and sensationalism.
“It was really wrong for them to adapt, it’s not even a yellow journalism, it’s [garbage]. They could have checked, they could have checked. That is the moral responsibility of publishers of newspapers. You have to check. Do not print garbage that are given to you for the sake of sensationalism,” the tough-talking Mayor Duterte said during the late-night show of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
He also slammed some Giant Television network for allowing the airing of a negative campaign advertisement against him.
“I don’t know why they have to do it na ganun (that way). They would not complete your story, ‘pag ganun (if it’s like that), i-cut tapos yung ipalabas [di kumpleto], di naman niya sabihin na I was relating to something (they cut it and they release it incompletely, they don’t even say whether I was relating to something),” Duterte said.
He added that the media should verify the news before reporting because that is the moral responsibility of publishers of newspapers, he cited that some media “pretend to be the moral torch of the country.”
“They might pretend to take the moral stand but they don’t,” he added.
